Why Buy in Bulk

Why shop in bulk?

  • Bins are replenished often, so ingredients are super fresh.

  • You can buy as much or as little as you need, so you can experiment with new products.

  • Many of the bulk offerings are organically grown.

  • Save money because you're not paying for the fancy labels and packaging.

  • More of the product arrives in bulk per pallet, saving transportation costs.

  • Bringing your own mesh or cloth bag or glass jar means there’s much less wasteful packaging.

What can I buy in bulk?

All kinds of things:

rice, grains, flours, pasta, soup mixes, beans, granola, popcorn, nut butters, dried fruits, chocolate, nuts, and seeds. And don't forget snacks and treats.  Herbs, spices, salts and vanilla bean. Look for bulk teas and coffee too. If you don't see them with the other bulk items, just ask your clerk in the department for help.

How To Shop In Bulk

  1. If you need to subtract the weight of your jar or cloth bag and it doesn’t already have a ‘tare’ (the weight of the receptacle), ask one of the clerks to weigh it for you before filling.

  2. Fill the bag or container with the amount you want.

  3. Write down the number you see on the bin — aka the PLU number — on your grocery list, or directly on the bag or container.

  4. Check out as usual — the cashier will weigh and price your purchases.

And Pet Co. even sells dog treats, biscuits and bones in bulk!
